BT Moto Stage 1+ Performance Calibration w/Handheld Tuner 20-22 BMW S1000RR

The 2020–2022 K67 BMW S1000RR represents a major change from the K46 platform! While the bike is incredible in every way, U.S. and European S1000RR models are restricted from the factory, preventing you from unleashing the bike’s full potential right off the dealer lot. U.S. models have even stricter restrictions than their European counterparts, but both will benefit tremendously from our Stage 1 ECU calibration.

Our Stage 1 mapping removes these restrictions and unlocks your BMW S1000RR’s full potential—the post-tuning changes on the 2020–2022 S1000RR are the most astonishing we’ve seen on any BMW superbike to date! A BT-Moto flash is a must-have modification for an otherwise perfect motorcycle. See why we’ve calibrated tens of thousands of BMW S1000RRs and counting!

THE BT-MOTO DIFFERENCE We are obsessed with BMW motorcycles, and it shows. Thoroughly tested in all aspects by track racers, drag racers, and casual street riders wanting a more exciting bike, our Stage 1 makes the motorcycle perform how it should have come from the factory—and then some.

We purchase the motorcycles, fully disassemble them, diagnose issues, datalog, and test every aspect of performance and rideability while maintaining or improving fuel economy, emissions, and engine reliability compared to stock levels! Our growing YouTube channel highlights many of these changes and showcases our build series. We’ve kept these bikes in our personal fleet since 2010, innovating cutting-edge features and addressing customer requests along the way.

Our customers benefit tremendously from this process: issues that bother them are brought to the forefront and fixed, creating a more enjoyable riding experience. No one has more thorough research into making these bikes enjoyable than we do—with a money-back guarantee.

Be sure to check our in-house YouTube reviews and testing for before-and-after horsepower gains, acceleration testing, and rideability quirk fixes (completed with third-party verification on all bikes). As a final point, we send all our calibrations to be tested by CARB for government emissions compliance and third-party verification—before-and-after horsepower plus tailpipe emissions—to earn a certified EO number for sale in California (50-state legal), as the year-round riding and bike market there is huge!

DRAG / ROLL RACERS / MAX SAFE ENGINE HORSEPOWER Drag racers can ride fully derestricted with refined traction control (TC) and maximized torque management, allowing you to put the power down gear after gear without limitations. Thanks to our extensive factory ECU knowledge and hundreds of engine channels datalogged, we adjust the ECU far better than competitors who simply flatten fuel and advance ignition blindly.

We are uniquely positioned to activate custom code within the factory ECU, such as full-time closed loop (which uses factory sensors to auto-tune the motorcycle at every throttle position without custom dyno mapping), adjust SOI (start of injection), rewrite spark maps per octane, and address hidden torque maps—ensuring the engine never holds back horsepower while staying within safety limits. We also enhance additional safety functions to keep the engine reliable in extreme environments beyond factory tolerances. We test the best and worst possible fuels and optimize for all of them. Years of experience have helped us squeeze every bit of safe, reliable power from the bike. Be careful with others claiming more power—there is a delicate balance. Forced ignition advance, deleted knock control, disabled DTC tables, and overly lean air/fuel mixtures are a quick path to an expensive repair for just 2 hp.

TRACK RACERS Track racers enjoy modified TC (traction control) settings, wheelie management, adjustments for different tire sizes, smoother throttle transitions/tip-in, consistent and predictable power delivery, and specialized tuning for specific tires. All this ensures you start and finish turns to the best of the bike’s capability.

Working directly with MotoAmerica racers and regularly datalogging the fastest stock-ECU BMW S1000RR riders has given us invaluable insight and drastically improved our mapping and knowledge base to help customers perform at their best on track—keeping you ahead of the pack.

STREET RIDERS For the casual rider, derestricting the bike is the biggest advantage of our tuning. It makes the bike a blast to ride and delivers smile-inducing power from one simple modification. Ensuring smooth throttle for cruising while providing brutal power when needed is key for all liter-bike owners.

Stop-and-go traffic or weekend canyon carving is where we test our development bikes—they must perform flawlessly at low speeds as well as they do at wide-open throttle on the airstrip. Hundreds of hours and miles go into our tuning and testing across multiple bikes, fuels, and test riders before we release a product. We aim to deliver the best on the market while leading in customer satisfaction.

No one tests like we do!

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN STAGE 1?

  • De-restricted throttle: +60 hp gains in the midrange (especially lower gears) and +20 whp across the power curve!
  • De-restricted exhaust valve: Opens to 100% in certain riding scenarios for optimal sound and performance—no aftermarket exhaust needed.
  • Throttle response: Increased by 12% in every "Race Pro" mode to achieve a true 100% throttle target. Road modes desensitized for smooth highway cruising (normally jerky and twitchy).
  • Cruise control jerkiness: Adjusted for smoother tip-in during highway cruising.
  • Revised fueling: Partial- and full-throttle maps optimized for maximum fuel economy, throttle response, and performance targets—developed using our 100-channel datalogging R&D.
  • Second and third gear transmission limiter removed: Enables full wheelie control and aggressive roll-race hole shots (BT-Moto exclusive).
  • Hard-cut RPM limiter: Enhanced and restructured for smoother, less dramatic behavior at the bike’s limit.
  • Top speed limiter removed: Dash still caps display at 192 mph (for now), but GPS-verified speeds go higher.
  • Mapping available for all popular modification combinations.
  • Heat management: Improved through better fueling and an earlier cooling-fan activation strategy.
  • Acceleration boost: Shaves about 1.5 seconds off your 60–130 mph time!
  • BMW "loud" startup/servo: Left fully intact on Stage 1.

Please note: Our Stage 1 tuning is certified 50-state legal by CARB EO D-868. As of July 2025, we no longer offer extended rev limiter options on Stage 1 tuning. Stage 1 is designed for OEM dealer-level serviceability and to comply with BMW’s warranty standards.

HOW WE ACCOMPLISH THIS WITH STAGE 1 The purpose of this modification is to deliver an optimized, factory-like bike at its full power potential—with or without hard parts—while maintaining factory reliability and emissions standards (if applicable to your state or country).

  • Throttle restriction / torque / gear limitations — We give you 100% throttle utilization. This is critical in track or racing situations where you need every bit of power. Factory files have “dead spots” that can cause unpredictable behavior when exiting corners or rolling on the throttle. Straight-line acceleration suffers too, especially at high RPM. Gain 60 hp in 2nd and 3rd gear and 20 hp elsewhere! We remove these restrictions for smooth, predictable throttle all the way to redline. It’s like getting a new bike all over again!
  • Exhaust valve / intake flap — The exhaust valve is a double-edged sword: it creates needed backpressure but limits mid-to-upper RPM power on the 2020–2022 S1000RR. When closed, the bike stays much quieter—even slip-ons sound nearly stock. Opening it for racing yields horsepower gains (gear- and RPM-dependent, similar to throttle butterflies). Lower gears keep a smaller opening to reduce volume and power by 3–5 hp even at lower RPM. Our mapping retains the stock exhaust valve but opens it fully when needed for maximum power. The intake flap is closed at certain RPM from the factory; we open it fully for maximum airflow to the airbox at all times.
  • Fueling — The 2020–2022 S1000RR runs rich for global conditions (desert heat) and longevity, but it’s overkill. It’s also artificially lean at idle, cruise, and warm-up, causing stalling and cold/hot start issues. Equipped with 5-wire widebands (like the 2020+ GS1250), it can target a specific AFR through closed-loop correction from idle to redline. Factory richness helps cool the “turtleshell” system for long life and warranty coverage, but fuel can be safely trimmed for better results with real-time corrections. Keep in mind the factory uses closed loop very little!
  • Ignition — We adjust per-cylinder corrections for maximum performance and increased torque/horsepower via steady-state dyno tuning and datalogging verification across multiple fuels. Safety maps remain active for poor fuel conditions. We do not over-advance ignition blindly—these engines don’t respond well or gain much from excessive advance. This means automatic power increases with higher-octane fuel without remapping.
  • Heat management — Let’s face it: this bike runs hot. The new exhaust system and idle/cruise AFR mixtures keep it in the 215°F+ range, burning your legs unless you’re going 50+ mph. We solve this with our low fan-on temperature modification (standard baseline feature) and revised cruise mapping, which significantly curbs temps.
